| RACING QUEENSLAND STEWARDS REPORT Toowoomba Turf Club - Saturday, 7 July 2012 WEATHER - FINE TRACK - CUSHION OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards - R. Hitchener Stewards - J. Childs, L. Carvosso, A. Preston Clerk of Scales - Club Judge - Club Veterinarian - P McAuliffe Swab attendants - J. Snell, A. Jones Bookmakers Supervisor - Club Starter - G. Town Stewards Secretary - W. Ostrofski SUPPLEMENTARY From Toowoomba Tuesday 3 July 2012 - Race 4: Following the disappointing performance of GREYS A ROCKIN, trainer T. Sears advised that his stable veterinary surgeon performed an endoscopic examination and also had blood tests carried out on the gelding, both of which failed to reveal any abnormalities. Mr Sears added that the only explanation he could put forward regarding the disappointing performance was that the gelding may not have run out the distance of the 2100m with the significant weight of 59kg. As a result, Mr Sears will review the gelding's current preparation, which may include dropping it back in distance. Race 1: RAILWAY HOTEL ALLORA CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1050M 1st - Heartbroken 2nd - Maker's Marque 3rd - Boodles'nboodles 4th - Smart Cookie Track temperature: 17 degrees Celsius The start of this race was delayed to allow the completion of an interstate event. BOLSTER (R. Goltz) was hampered shortly after the start by BELLE OF FRISCO (J. Kehoe), which shifted in whilst being ridden along. J. Kehoe was reprimanded and advised to make greater effort to keep his mount on a straight course. As a result of this incident BOLSTER raced further back in the field than anticipated. GIVE IT A CRAC (J. Brown) raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event. Leaving the 900m SMART COOKIE (R. Jamieson) was tightened for room and forced to ease when racing to the inside of MISS TIPPI (T. Serjeant) which shifted in marginally. CARRY LARRY'S ROSE (P. Wolfgram) hung in during the middle stages of the event. BOLSTER hung out rounding the home turn. MEZANCE (S. Bogenhuber) laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 2: JENCO FEEDS & SEEDS BENCHMARK 80 H'CAP - 1100M 1st - Hyde Park 2nd - Trail Boss 3rd - Desert Lair 4th - Coz He Wants To Track temperature: 15 degrees Celsius The start of this race was delayed to allow the completion of an interstate event. TRAIL BOSS (T. Serjeant) began awkwardly. Near the 900m TRAIL BOSS was forced to steady when racing at the heels of GOLDEN TRINKETS (R. Ride), which shifted in. Apprentice Ride was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. HIDDEN TREASURE (N. Tomizawa) laid out from the 400m. Near the 350m TRAIL BOSS was forced to steady and shift to the outside to obtain clear running after improving on to the heels of the tiring NIGHT ESCORT (S. Bogenhuber). When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of NIGHT ESCORT, jockey S. Bogenhuber advised that from the outside barrier she was forced to ride NIGHT ESCORT along vigorously in the early stages to obtain the leading position. She added that from the 700m GOLDEN TRINKETS improved to her outside and as a result she was forced to allow NIGHT ESCORT to improve further from home than she had intended. Jockey Bogenhuber was of the opinion that the combination of the work NIGHT ESCORT was forced to undertake in the early stages along with being placed under pressure a considerable distance from home was a contributing factor to the disappointing performance of NIGHT ESCORT tonight. A post-race veterinary examination of NIGHT ESCORT revealed no abnormalities. Race 3: ALLORA INDEPENDENT STEEL CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1200M 1st - Deep Heat 2nd - Savage 3rd - Locimagooli 4th - Tellintaimz Track temperature: 12 degrees Celsius BALLARD BOY (A.Taylor) and DEEP HEAT (J. Letherby) were both tightened for room at the start between DIAMOND HEIST (R. Goltz) and KISSING TYPE (S. Bogenhuber), both of which shifted ground. Near the 900m DIAMOND HEIST improved onto the heels of SAVAGE (G. Goold) and was forced to steady. DIAMOND HEIST then raced keenly for a considerable distance from this point. Near the 700m SAVAGE, when attempting to shift out to obtain clear running, bumped KISSING TYPE on two occasions. LOCIMAGOOLI (T. Serjeant) raced wide for the majority of the event and laid out from the 500m. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of DEEP HEAT, trainer N. Saunders advised that at its most recent start at Warwick on 23 June 2012, the gelding raced over 1500m in a Class 3 event on that occasion. Mr Saunders advised that in his opinion DEEP HEAT failed to run out the 1500m strongly on that day. He added that since that run he has freshened the gelding and tonight when dropped back in distance and also back racing in its own class, the gelding was better suited and as such he was not entirely surprised with the improved performance. Stewards noted the explanation. Race 4: DWAN DRILLING & IRRIGATION MAIDEN H'CAP - 1000M 1st - Favco 2nd - One Stop 3rd - Mini Style 4th - Flagflamenco Track temperature: 8 degrees Celsius FLASH APACHE (J. Letherby) and HEART OF MAGIC (W. O'Connell) bumped on jumping away. FLAGFLAMENCO (D. Robinson) hung out from the 600m. ROSCITY (S. Bogenhuber) and ONE STOP (N. Evans) brushed near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination of SWEET SWEET LOVE (A.Taylor) revealed no apparent abnormalities. Race 5: WILLETT ELECTRICAL CLASS 3 PLATE - 1625M 1st - Toy Ruler 2nd - I'm Good 3rd - Knute 4th - Lady Oscar Track temperature: 8 degrees Celsius As apprentice A. Hearn had riding commitments at the Gold Coast, apprentice G. Goold was substituted as the rider of TOY RULER. As K. Yoshida was delayed arriving on course due to a race inquiry at the Gold Coast, R. Goltz was substituted as the rider of LADY OSCAR. KNUTE (S. Bogenhuber) began awkwardly and shifted out making contact with RETRACTED (R. Jamieson). Near the 1200m KNUTE, whilst racing keenly, improved on to the heels of LADY OSCAR (R. Goltz) and was forced to be restrained. I'M GOOD (P. Wolfgram) and BACH (R. Ride) both overraced during the middle stages of the event. Near the 500m I'M GOOD improved on to the heels of the tiring BACH and as a result was held up until a point near the 300m. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of TOY RULER (G. Goold), trainer's representative Mr Manzelmann advised that connections had been disappointed with the manner in which TOY RULER had been racing recently, however he attributed this to racing on slow and heavy tracks and drawing poor barriers. Mr Manzelmann further advised that TOY RULER has raced satisfactorily on the cushion surface and he believed the gelding was better suited tonight racing over further distance, however he still expressed some surprise that TOY RULER was able to win tonight's event. Stewards noted the explanation. Race 6: SIMPSON DESERT OASIS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP - 1300M 1st - Monjaya Boy 2nd - On Ice Now 3rd - Dr House 4th - Camara Lad Track temperature: 7 degrees Celsius The start of this race was delayed to allow the completion of an interstate event. Trainer M. Webb advised that it would be the intention to have TINGLE (N. Tomizawa) ridden in a rearward position if circumstances permit. TINGLE raced keenly in the early stages and settled just off the speed. ON ICE NOW (D. Robinson) laid out rounding the home turn. Stewards questioned apprentice G. Goold in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of CAMARA LAD. Apprentice Goold advised that CAMARA LAD was able to obtain a forward position racing outside the leader and travelled comfortably during the early and middle stages of the event, however when he asked the gelding to improve from the 600m it failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing in the run to the finish. Stewards will interview trainer M. Nolan at a later date. A post-race veterinary examination of CAMARA LAD failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 7: ACTION METAL RECYCLERS MAIDEN PLATE - 1300M 1st - Rocking Pearl 2nd - Forward Scout 3rd - Authoritative 4th - Ozicrown Track temperature: 7 degrees Celsius Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer M. Webb in relation to the acceptance and subsequent scratching of LAREDO. AUTHORITATIVE (D. Robinson) was slow to begin.
