Inwood Stewards Secretary - GENERAL: Trainer C. Hampton was fined $100 under A. R. 114(a) for failing to scratch NATIVE HUNTER by the prescribed time at McKinlay on 23rd June 2012. Race 1: Find Your Rodeo Gear Class 3 Plate0 - 1450 metres 1st - SUPER WIP 2nd - BANDIDAS 3rd - RAPID LEICA JACLO 4th - BELFORD BOY Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer Mrs D. Ballard for the late notification of Jockey D. Ballard as the rider of BANDIDAS. ENCOSTA SEQUALO (App. K. Manoukian) was slow to begin. BANDIDAS (D. Ballard) raced wide throughout. Race 2: Nominate Now For Mailman Express Class 2 Handicap - 1000 metres 1st MAZA BOY 2nd EQUALES 3rd RED HUSSERATI 4th - NOTIUS Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer P. Inglewood for the late notification of App. K. Manoukian as the rider of KBENGAL, Jockey M. Morris as the rider of MAZA BOY, Jockey M. Hart as the rider of MEGAROYALE, and S. Mossman as the rider of CELEBRATES. HUFF AND PUFF and BASALTIC BANNE were late scratchings at 1.10 p.m. when no riders were available. M. Hart, the declared rider for MEGAROYALE was overweight, stewards permitted him to ride the gelding half a kg overweight when no other suitable rider was available. Jockey Hart was reprimanded. In assessing penalty stewards took into account his excellent record in this regard. Trainer G. Wiles was advised that DOUBLE HEADER, which proved difficult to load, would be issued with a warning on its barrier manners. SHORTY'S CHOICE (R. Sue-San) was slow into stride. When questioned as to the seemingly disappointing performance of KBENGAL, App. K. Manoukian stated that the only explanation he could offer for the horse's poor run was that it raced flat. Race 3: Watch Out For Cowboys Maiden Plate - 1100 metres 1st SIR JIVER 2nd STAND FIRM 3rd SPACE SAVER 4th - IT'S PRETTY Jockey M. Cullen reported that STAND FIRM had a tendency to race greenly in the straight. SPACE SAVER (M. Hart) raced wide throughout. Race 4: Cowgirls Wil Be Racing Class B Handicap - 1200 metres 1st MONTH OF SUNDAYS 2nd CLEOPATRA'S LIST 3rd JET RAFT 4th - DANIVA After arriving behind the barriers, at the request of Jockey D. Ballard, MONTH OF SUNDAYS was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the event. JET RAFT(T. Hill) raced wide in the early and middle stages. When questioned as to the disappointing performance of DEXTERITY Jockey M. Morris stated that the filly would be better suited in races over a longer distance than today's event. Jockey Morris said that when he placed the filly under pressure leaving the 600m DESTERITY responded to his riding. Trainer P. Inwood agreed with the comments of Jockey Morris. A post-race veterinary examination of DEXTERITY did not reveal any significant abnormalities. When questioned as to the performance of ALWAYS PERSIANGULF the only explanation Jockey M. Hart could tender for the gelding's disappointing performance was that ALWAYS PERSIANGULF had a tendency to race greenly throughout the event. Trainer P. Inwood agreed with the comments of Jockey Hart and added that he will experiment with a change to the gelding's approved gear, specifically removing winkers and adding pacifiers. A post-race veterinary examination of ALWAYS PERSIANGULF did not reveal any abnormalities. Race 5: MAILMAN EXPRESS AUGUST 9TH Open Handicap - 1200 metres 1st KALMAN 2nd THE BEAST 3rd CASTELLANI 4th - NORWEGIAN As Jockey M. Hart was to be overweight, and no other suitable rider was available, stewards permitted him to ride TAIMEX 1.5 kg above its declared weight. Jockey Hart was fined $100 under A.R.120(b). TAIMEX (M. Hart) was slow to begin. Jockey K. Ballard was unable to explain the disappointing performance of SUPERTAX. Jockey Ballard said that when placed under pressure leaving the 400 metres SUPERTAX failed to respond to his riding. Trainer Mrs D. Ballard agreed that the performance of SUPERTAX was disappointing, however she intended to continue with the gelding's preparation and undertook to advise stewards if anything was amiss with SUPERTAX in the days following the event. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities. A post-race veterinary examination of THE BEAST (D. Ballard) revealed that the gelding was lame in the off foreleg. Trainer Mrs D. Ballard was advised that she must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to THE BEAST being permitted to race again.
