Granted an extra date by Racing Queensland, Bell took full advantage of the opportunity with a very successful meeting Saturday, September 15. The club delivered a six event program which contested keen racing and some close finishes on a track rated a fast 1. Country market stalls memorabilia displays and entertainment after the races along with beautiful spring weather made it an enjoyable day for the large crowd that attended.
The male jockeys slightly out gunned their female opponents winning four of the six races but the ride of the day went to Cecily Eaton. Cecily brought Desert Lair along the rails with a devastating burst to grab Riviera Moss by half head with Dom Paolo a head away third in a great finish. The club is now looking forward to their next meeting on January 5, 2013.
Taimazov Truffel and Spinifex Warrior came to the home turn together but Winning Approach and Pat’s Secret were winding up very quickly. Winning Approach dashed to a clear lead and safely held Pat’s Secret in the run to the line with Spinifex Warrior a fair third.
Go On Greg led Johnny Aucash, Royal Rocket and Honour Guard early and still led coming around the home turn. In the straight Royal Rocket wore down Go On Greg to score by a length with Honour Guard a close third.
The lead in this race chopped and changed regularly between Take A Hike, Bituminous, My Vlad and Grace’s Gift with Flash Apache circling the field coming to the corner. Flash Apache finished the stronger in the straight to tip out Bitiminous and Take A Hike.
After leading from shortly after the start Amber Ale put in a gutsy performance to win. Pressured buy Zahbaj, Mini Maizing and Release Me to the turn Amber Ale fought back doggedly and edged away to score by more than a length to Release Me with Mini Maizing in third place.
Riviera Moss, Miss Gypsy Rose, Butch, Dom Paolo and Desert Lair were all in the firing line early and there looked to be many chances as the field fanned across the track for the run home. Riviera Moss, Dom Paolo and Miss Gypsy Rose were in line across the track and looked like fighting it out until Cecily Eaton brought Desert Lair with a withering burst along the rails to snatch victory by a half head to Riviera Moss with Dom Paolo a head away third in a great finish.
Bossboss, Grandeur King, Butch, Winning Again, Fourth Of July, Shiner and Red Creek all showing speed out of the gates and little separated them until the turn where Bossboss drove to a clear lead. Bossboss was still front coming to the 100 metres but was swamped by Winning Again who drew away for a strong win over Bossboss. Grandeur King held third just ahead of Shiner.
