Former Toowoomba
trainer Tony Gollan continued his emergence among Brisbane's training ranks
with another double at Doomben on Saturday.
Gollan, who
moved to Eagle Farm in May, has now landed six metropolitan winners since the
start of the month.
After notching
up a double at Doomben on September 8 and a win with Exogram at Eagle Farm
midweek, Gollan continued his freakish form with Trakstar and Too Many Reds at
Doomben on Saturday.
Trakstar
scored by a head over Antarctic Dream in the Decision Point Consulting Handicap
(1600m) while Too Many Reds claimed the Ray White Keperra Handicap (1200m) by a
half neck over Ollie Vollie.
Gollan also
has made his mark interstate after landing his first G1 winner with Temple Of
Boom in The Galaxy at Randwick in April after claiming the G2 Gilgai Stakes at
Flemington last October.
Widely travelled Too Many Reds, a son of Magic
Albert, joined Gollan's stables after campaigning in three states in Tasmania,
Victoria and South Australia before arriving in Queensland.
Gollan picked
his mark well with Too Many Guns who was successful in his debut for the stable
at Doomben on August 4.
At his next
outing the six-year-old finished fourth in a field of five behind The Sixties.
Jockey
Larry Cassidy blamed poor barrier manners for Too Many Reds on that occasion but
the gelding was better behaved in the barriers prior to registering his ninth
win from 29 starts.
"He
missed the start badly at his previous run but her was a lot better
today," Gollan said.
"He
still missed it by about a head but he jumped a lot better."
Gollan has
no major plans in mind with Too Many Reds but predicted a bright future for stablemate
Trakstar.
"He's
fairly promising and has won two from four now," Gollan said.
"I'm
hoping he'll develop into a carnival horse next winter."
Too Many
Reds' victory ended the run of bush hero Jabiru Dreaming who finished just over
one length away in fourth place.
Jabiru
Dreaming, a son of Invincible Spirit, was having his first start since recording
his ninth consecutive win for Mt Isa trainer Patrick Inwood in the Cleveland
Bay Handicap (1200m) at Townsville in July.
