The sixth Ray Slasberg Memorial Race Day is being held at Keppel Park by the Yeppoon Turf Club on Saturday, August 25. It is a day to remember and to thank previous vice-president Ray who was a keen race supporter and enthusiastic volunteer.
The Yeppoon Turf Club, like all volunteer clubs relies on their very staunch base of hard working volunteers and our base of volunteers like our past vice-president Ray, continue to work hard.
There has been major works at the Yeppoon Turf Club with a refurbished sand track now in operation. Brett Stenhouse and his team have completed an excellent job.
With another race day on August 25, Greg said the sand track is another example of what is being accomplished by the volunteers of the club.
Ray Armstrong and Trevor Woodham are preparing the grounds and surrounds for the people of Yeppoon and surrounding areas.
All of the sound systems have also been upgraded to give a better, clearer calling to all the club patrons and a digital upgrade has been made to the TV system for the TAB fluctuations and Sky Racing coverage.
Gary & Rhonda Hall of J & C Legh General Engineering & Fabrication have installed the 13 monitor boards for the bookies ring and outer viewing areas which provides a clear vision of all races.
All of these improvements have been undertaken by the clubs very enthusiastic volunteers who give countless hours of time for the enjoyment and entertainment of the greater community.
Ray would be very proud and satisfied with whom he has left to carry on with the work that is required to keep the Yeppoon Turf Club running.
Come along and have a great time this Saturday when gates open at 11:30 am. There is a jumping castle and face painting for the children, fashions on the field for the fine dressed men and women, a five race card and a chance to enjoy the surrounds, food and drink that are provided by Greg and the volunteers of the Yeppoon Turf Club.
A free courtesy bus is provided to take you back to the heart of Yeppoon after your great day at the Yeppoon Races.
