As a prominent figure in the media in the mid-90s, Jim’s story  was included in the  History of Racing book, edited by Mark Oberhardt. Below is a snippet about Jim:

“ Former Turf Editor of The Courier-Mail and Sunday Mail, Jim Anderson was appointed the first QTC Public Relations Officer in June 1988. A son of former leading trainer A.G. (George) Anderson, who died in 1951, he reported on races from throughout Australian and oversees during his 38 years as a Turf Writer with Queensland Newspapers. As a school boy he proved an accomplished horseman when, as a licensee he rode trackwork at Eagle Farm for his father. QTC chairman Sir Edward Williams offered Anderson the position after discussions with the committee. His journalist colleague, former Brisbane Telegraph Turf Editor Keith Noud, was Public Relations Officer for the Brisbane Amateur Turf Club after his retirement. Anderson retired from the position of QTC Public Relations Officer/Marketing Manager in November 1989.”
